The Client Case Study Template
Use this template to turn a client win into a case study that makes the next prospect see their own result in the story.
TL;DR
A case study is the most persuasive piece of proof you can own, because it lets a prospect see the exact result they want, delivered by you. But most builders either never write one or write a bragging summary that persuades no one. This template gives you the structure that sells: the client's problem, what you did, the concrete result, and the client's own words. Fill it in once per strong project and you build a library of proof that closes buyers before you ever get on a call.
A strong case study is the most persuasive proof you can own, because it lets a prospect see the exact outcome they want, delivered by someone like you. The problem is that most builders write a bragging summary about themselves instead of a story about the client's result. This template gives you the structure that actually sells.
The structure that sells
- 1The client and their situation, so the right prospect recognizes themselves.
- 2The problem, in concrete terms and ideally in the client's words.
- 3What you did, briefly, focused on the decisions that mattered.
- 4The result, as specific and measurable as you can honestly make it.
- 5The client's own words, as a quote that lands the outcome.
Make the prospect see themselves
- Lead with the problem, not your process, so the reader feels understood.
- Keep the how short: the buyer cares about the outcome, not the mechanics.
- Use real, honest numbers, and if you have none, describe the concrete change.
- End with a clear next step for a reader who wants the same result.
Never fabricate a result
A case study lives or dies on credibility. Use only real, honest outcomes. If you cannot cite a number, describe the concrete before and after, which is still persuasive and always true.A few honest, well-structured case studies close buyers for you before a call ever happens. The Claude Code Profit Room is where builders turn tactics like these into signed clients and recurring revenue: members share exactly what is working this week, get their offers and messages rebuilt in public, and stop guessing alone. Frequently asked questions
What makes a case study persuasive?
It tells the story of the client's result, not the story of you. When a prospect reads about a client who had their problem and got the outcome they want, they picture themselves in that story, which is far more convincing than a list of your skills. Lead with the problem and land on a specific, honest result.
What if I do not have hard numbers to show?
Describe the concrete before and after in plain terms. A clear change, like went from doing this manually every week to it running on its own, is persuasive and completely honest even without a percentage. Never invent a statistic to fill the gap, because a fabricated number destroys the credibility the whole case study depends on.
How long should a case study be?
Long enough to tell the story and no longer. The buyer cares most about the problem and the result, so keep the how-you-did-it section short and focused on the decisions that mattered. A tight case study that a prospect actually finishes beats an exhaustive one they abandon halfway through.
How many case studies should I have?
A few strong, honest ones covering the kinds of work you most want more of. It is better to have three sharp case studies that match your ideal projects than ten scattered across work you no longer want. Write one after every result worth showing and let the library build itself over time.
